I love warm beverages all year and all day. I try to avoid caffeine toward evening time, but when I’m craving something a little more substantial than herbal tea, I’ll whip up a caffeine-free latte. This golden milk latte recipe is easy, warming, soothing, spice-y and good for you. It makes a frequent appearance in my evening ritual.
Golden milk has been around for a long time. It’s super grounding and perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. The Ashwagandha in this only amplifies this. I thought as we move into this new year, I’d share something that could bring you a little calmness.
Golden Milk Powder by Gaia Herbs
The secret (and the ease) to this delicious latte is in this powder from Gaia Herbs. I’ve tried other golden milk powders and this is by far my favorite.
The ingredients in the powder are:
turmeric – which is known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties | date palm fruit – providing sweetness and other benefits that dates supply, like antioxidant | cardamom | ashwaganha – an adaptogen that reduces stress | vanilla bean – to make it even yummier | black pepper – which not only gives it that spice-y taste, but also enhances the beneficial effects of the turmeric.
So just the powder alone makes this super yummy.
You can mix it straight into warm milk, drink it just like that and call it a day and it’d be super yummy…
…but if you want to make it a little more filling and rich here’s a quick recipe.
SOH’s Golden Milk Latte Recipe š
Serves 1
- 8 ounces of warmed milk of choice
- 1 heaping teaspoon of the Golden Milk powder by Gaia Herbs
- 1 -2 teaspoons of coconut manna (makes it creamy)
- 1 scoop of collagen powder if you have it (It makes it frothier and collagen has all sorts of benefits – I used Vital Proteins. P.S. they have a marine one if you don’t eat land animals)
- Sweetener if desired. Sometimes I add a bit of coconut sugar if I’m in the mood but remember it does have the dates in it already so you may not want any additional sweetness.
- An extra dash of black pepper if you want it a little spicier
Instructions:
Warm milk and add all ingredients into a blender and blend until frothy. Pour, sip and enjoy.
P.S. Turmeric will stain your blender but if you wash it and then leave it in direct sunlight after it will get rid of the yellow stain.
Cheers to 2021 and whatever it may bring,
