Wear Flowers (and Herbs!) in your Hair with Aesop’s Shampoo and Conditioner

Aesop has quickly become on of my favorite brands. I love their shampoos and conditioners as well as some of their other skincare products. While they don’t tout themselves as being a “natural” line, I still enjoy mixing their products into my routine, because they really work, smell delightful and have very yummy nourishing ingredients.

I really love Aesop. Their products make me feel like I’m at a spa or bathing in an herb garden. No, I’ve never bathed in an herb garden, but I’m not opposed 🙂

While I have used other Aesop products that I love, for this post, I really wanted to highlight their Calming Shampoo and Classic Conditioner. They’re delicious and perfect for summer with their aromatic floral and herbaceous notes. They’ll leave your hair shiny and soft and smelling like you’ve got flowers (and herbs!) in your hair in the best way.

Calming Shampoo Notes: sage, eucalyptus, cedar wood, peppermint, rosemary, tea tree, chamomile + fennel

Classic Conditioner Notes: cedar wood, lavender, rosemary, juniper, tea tree + peppermint

But is Aesop natural??

After looking at the ingredient list, I did notice that they aren’t 100% natural. I did some research and discovered that Aesop does use some laboratory made ingredients alongside their natural ingredients.

This was a good reminder for me, that regardless of how pretty the bottle is, or how natural the product seems, it’s always important to actually read the ingredient list. Minimalistic style packaging does not equate to natural/organic products.

So did I stop using the Shampoo and Conditioner because they aren’t 100% natural?

Nope! While I do tend to reach for natural products, especially ones that I am putting directly onto or into my body, I have yet to find a truly 100% “natural” shampoo, that I have been completely happy with (and most shampoos that appear natural from natural grocery stores still tend to have synthetic ingredients).

On top of that, Aesop’s products are loaded with high quality ingredients from the earth. This is still a shampoo and conditioner that is higher in quality than your standard grocery store shampoo. Aesop values creating products that combine the magic of the earth and the power of science. They aim to create products that are pleasurable to use while also being effective. And they’re honest and upfront about how they create their products and I respect that.

I thought about not sharing this product with you…

I really did think about not sharing this product with you, even though I love it, because it’s not 100% natural. But I care deeply about being authentic with you all and I don’t ever want to paint a picture of something I’m not. And sometimes I’m a girl who uses shampoo that isn’t 100% natural. But I can say that I’m really happy with the ingredient list of this shampoo and conditioner compared to other ones I’ve used in the past couple of years.

Cheers to herby and flowery goodness,

Calming Shampoo | Classic Conditioner
